Taking inspiration from gothic architecture, Joud uses Illume to not only allude to this historical art form, but adapt it to inspire a modern garment.  The paneled surface of the piece in combination with a delicate chantilly lace is a nod to the art of stained glass, a common sight amongst gothic buildings.  With a faceted lower portion and headpiece, the garment’s structure draws from that of a classical street lamp, hence its appropriate name; “Illume”.
