In this self portrait, Joud illustrates the confinement in a lack of isolation. After a move away from his small hometown to one of the largest cities in the world, Joud notes the difficulty of attaining time feeling truly alone and in peace. In pursuit of portraying the overwhelming society that perpetually surrounded him, Company was created.

In this stippling piece, Joud encapsulates an eerie mood, referencing a barren land and a life in dull solitude. Free of sky and riddled with white space, the environment of the home and tree suggest a sense of deprivation. The house in the piece features a slightly open door. With ambiguity, the door can be seen as someone entering, forming a new, secluded life, or as someone exiting the empty reality within the piece.
